What is a Notary?
A Notary Public is a qualified lawyer empowered to prepare, attest, authenticate and certify deeds and other documents, for use anywhere in the world.
Their signature and official seal renders them acceptable, as proof of the matter attested by him, to the judicial or other public authorities in the country where they are to be used.
Clients often require notarial services when dealing with overseas matters. A Notary mainly acts as an impartial and legally trained witness to authenticate and certify the execution of documents required or intended for use outside the UK.
It is important that a Notary is contacted as early on as possible as requirements vary from country to country and further authentication from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office or applicable Consulate may be necessary.
By virtue of the international status of his office, the signature and seal of a Notary is recognised as evidence of a responsible legal officer in most countries of the world.
Services for individuals and companies
A complete, flexible and professional service meeting the needs of individuals and companies alike.
For example for individuals, our services include general notarisation of documents for use abroad, copy documents, powers of attorney, affidavits, oaths and declarations.
For companies, I act for companies, international firms of corporate solicitors and firms of accountants in notarising and legalising assignments and powers of attorney to register trade marks in many overseas trade mark registers.
Do you need help with international legal matters?
A Notary mainly acts as an impartial and legally trained witness to authenticate and certify the execution of documents required or intended for use outside the UK.
Notaries, unlike Solicitors, are recognised as International Lawyers worldwide. Notary Publics are able to deal with all foreign documents including Power of Attorney for use abroad and other official public or private documents.
The Notary's seal and signature is accepted throughout the world and assists in confirming the authenticity and legality of any document which a client wishes to use outside England and Wales, both privately or in a commercial capacity.
The most common tasks are:
- Preparing and witnessing powers of attorney for use overseas
- Dealing with documentation relating to the purchase or sale of land and property abroad
- Providing documents to deal with the administration of the estate of people who are abroad, or owning property abroad
- Authenticating personal documents and information for immigration or emigration purposes, or to apply to marry or to work abroad
- Authenticating company and business documents and transactions
- Preparing documentation for marriages abroad
